Three Pines, is a beautiful holiday rental home nestled in the Stara Planina Mountain range, in a small village of Balani. It is about a 2 1/2 - 3 hour drive from Sofia.And 30 mins from Veliko Turnovo, Bulgaria's old capital.
Situated on the edge of the Bulgaria 's newest National Park , this area is good for walking , fishing , horse riding , cycling, wildlife and has many historical sights and monuments of interest. Skiing in the winter is at the nearby ski resort of Uzana, only 25 km away.
The 150 year old chalet mountain house has recently had extensive improvement giving modern conveniences, yet still retaining old Bulgarian character. This is a new holiday let and has much to offer.
The house is in a sleepy village with a small church and a recently refurbished Hotel and restaurant. It is 7 km down the mountain where the nearest town is Gabrovo. Gabrovo has an excellent range of restaurants, bars and shops. Prices are extremely reasonable costing an average of £15 for a three course meal and wine for two!

The old Mountain house is the located towards the end of the village. It is surrounded by trees and is in a very private position. The narrow driveway leads up to the property. You can either park outside the front door or you can choose to park at the top of the drive. The garage is used to Store the garden furniture.
The main entrance is on the first floor. This floor has a twin bedroom and a double room with a kingsize bed. A second lounge is also on this floor, which has an open traditional fireplace. This is an excellent room to use on the colder evenings during the winter months as it is warmer and has a cosy feel. Leading from the twin room is a door on to the Veranda, this is half covered in vines for natural shade but also has an area where the sunloungers can be used.
Downstairs is a large open plan living/Dining area boasting exposed beams, flagstone flooring and stonewalls. This room also have an open fireplace. A television is in the lounge and selection of DVD?s are left in the property for use, please feel free to bring your own. The DVD player can also be used to play CD?s.
Leading from the lounge is a newly fitted bathroom and kitchen. The kitchen has new appliances and a small bistro table and a couple of chairs. The back door leads off from the kitchen to the patio. The garden has been left to nature to encourage wildlife closer to the property. There are many species of birds and butterflies to be seen.
The house has been sympathetically restored to keep many of the traditional Bulgarian features.
Bedding and towels are included in the price. Please bring extra towels for use away from the property e.g. at the local Hotel Pool.
We can also arrange for basic shopping to be there on your arrival. Please mention this when making your booking for a small cost.
