In the other direction you have the cosmopolitan town of Estepona being 13 kilometres away. There is a good bus-route to all of these places so a car is not essential. The buses are particularly inexpensive.
Marbella & Gibraltar airports are equal distant; making it easier to get the flights of your choice.
Local Sports facilities include a tennis club, putting-green, bowls club, and within a 5-minute drive there are the three golf courses of El Paraiso, Atalaya, Monte Mayor and Marbella Club. From there on there are at least another twenty five golf courses along the coast, giving it the nick name of the Costa del Golf... (Even on the road signs)
A leisurely stroll of about 12 minutes will take you to the sandy beach where apart from sunbathing you can sit and enjoy a leisurely drink at the beach bar.
If the beach is not for you the proximity of the mountains offer many interesting countryside tourist routes.
