Price (low season): GBP £ 265 This small settlement of small old stone houses, set on a
hillside amongst olive groves has been lovingly restored to
its origional glory. Beautifully simple and traditionally
furnished the cottages are only a 10 minute walk to the
beach.
Many people tell us that they want a "real" Cretan holiday, and that is
exactly what you get at this unique and very different location. There
are rooms built from the living rock, paraffin lamps are the only
source of light in the evening, and the fridge and the only electric light
(in the bathroom) run on 12 volt solar generated power. There are 4
houses for 2/3 people, and 2 houses for 5 people. Thats all!

This is an extraordinary place. Not for the faint hearted, or people
who want home comforts, but a secluded retreat to recharge your
batteries and communicate with nature. The village was abandoned
and was rebuilt in the most traditional way, using only original
materials. The sense of peace and tranquility is unsurpassed in our
experience and we wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone who is
prepared to "rough it" and experience the traditional way of life at the
foot of a gorge on the south coast. This is agro-tourism at its best.
The beach is a 15 minute walk away and there are shops, bars and
tavernas there if you need them. If you do need them...... well, there
are plenty of other places to stay on this website.
