Villa ANEMONI-  

4-5 persons self catering.

Located above the swimming pool, this well-appointed villa enjoys superb panoramic views over the pool, gardens, rolling hills and the beautiful bay of Mirabello. The partly cane-shaded veranda provides an ideal place to watch the morning sun rise over the bay, the huge silvery moon shining over the sea and the constantly changing pink and purple hues of the distant mountains.

The spacious interior is tastefully decorated with local wooden furnishings and the floor is covered throughout with mellow beige tiles. It comprises a large front aspect sea-facing lounge /diner with two sofas (which can be used for extra sleeping space) and an open-plan kitchen with full size cooker & fridge. There are two bedrooms (one double and one twin) and bathroom with shower/wc.

The Gulf of Mirabello

 

This is an area of magnetic charm-straight out of a Cretan picture book. It has some of the most beautiful scenery and unspoilt countryside on the entire northern coast of Crete. The curving coastline is interspersed with pocket-sized coves. On its shores are the cosmopolitan resort of Aghios Nikolaos and the picturesque fishing village of Elounda. The ancient little village of Elinika lies a ten minute ride away from both these resorts and is surrounded by fruit orchards and olive groves. Here village life has remained unchanged and unhurried.

 

From the moment you arrive at Olga your senses will tell you that you are entering an exotic hideaway. The Olga villas are reached through terraced gardens and pathways reminiscent of an old Cretan village, filled with dozens of species of flowers, herbs and trees. Truly a botanist’s delight. The trees create archways of welcome shade across stone paths. Giant stone urns trail heavily perfumed plants such as jasmine, gardenia and tobacco flowers. The sun shines on whitewashed walls emblazoned with scarlet geraniums brimming out of giant earthenware ‘pithari’. These magical surroundings provide an oasis-like setting for the inviting freshwater swimming pool, sunloungers and pretty parasols. Tradition and architecture are featured and strongly preserved in the most complementary way through the passion of the owner Michalis , who love to collect anything old. This includes massive terracotta pots, antique stone urns and bygone objects. In every corner you will see pieces of marble, alabaster, fossils and even part of a Corinthian pedestal. His collection is fascinating.

There are three large villas and three smaller completely independent self-contained units. All have been individually designed and tastefully decorated in traditional Cretan style. Amphitheatrically built, they enjoy breathtaking views of Mirabello bay and distant mountains.

The location is exceptional. The road outside the villas will take you to Elounda and Aghios Nikolaos (three miles in either direction). Taxis can be requested from a communal telephone point within the gardens and the bus stop is close by.
