Flights to Cape Verde / Cabo Verde and island of Boa Vista
The way the most used to get to Cape Verde is by plane. There are national Airline Agencies, which assure a direct air transport to the country from Africa, Europe and the North and the South of America. The international Airport Amílcar Cabral is located on the island of Sal and it welcomes passengers from all over the world.
Domestic flights from the islands of Sal and Santiago land in the airport in Rabil and there is a port in the Village of Sal-Rei.
From 2nd November 2006 Astraeus Airlines are operating direct flights from both Gatwick and Manchester weekly on Thursdays. For those who wish to spend a number of days on the Islands which are not multiples of one week, one can use TAP Air Portugal daily overnight flights from Heathrow to Sal with an aircraft change at Lisbon.
Inter-Island flights are with TACV Cabo Verde Airlines using (mostly) twin turbo-prop 50 seater ATR42 aircraft.
Alternative flights from the UK and Ireland rely on regional flights to Paris or Amsterdam and connection with TACV Cabo Verde Airlines flights to Sal or Santiago. These routes are more attractive to our Clients from outside the London and Manchester Airport catchment areas but mostly involve at least 1 overnight in Amsterdam or Paris.
Sports
The sea waves and the vast beaches of the archipelago Cape Verde allow for the practise of body board and windsurfing. Line-fishing and deep-sea fishing are also excellent alternatives, and Cape Verde offers very good products for the lovers of this sport. The sea offers abundant maritime fauna and clear and pure waters. Diving is also very much appreciated due to the cleanness and the mild temperature in the sea.
Boa Vista offers a great alternative for the practise of nautical sports. Scuba diving is a very popular activity for tourists because of the crystal clear waters and the rich maritime fauna, and the great number of ships that sank in the past centuries, along shore. Line-fishing and deep-sea fishing, kite, surf and windsurfing are also among the favourite sports. Some Clubs provide scuba diving and windsurfing instruction for beginners, with private instructors and equipment. Beach volleyball is played in some beaches. Long ecological walks and cycling are also recommended, but the visitor should be prepared to face long distances, and therefore it is recommended that water and snacks, as well as sunscreen lotion be always brought with the person. Horseback riding is usually included in the local religious feasts.
Trekking has gained new adepts lately and, in fact, treks have been identified for this type of activity. The impressive mountains and deep valleys invite people to long walks
BOAVISTA Cape Verde
Once upon a time , at the cross-road of the three continents that border the Atlantic, there was a group of islands called Cabo Verde, or Cape Verde.
The mixture of Africa and Portugal, the vast sandy beaches , the impressive mountains, the delicious seafood and the melodious beauty of its world famous music, its amazing people ... all distinguished Cape Verde as a destination far away from a world of stress or mass tourism.
And you know what, it is still there! One of the last remaining unspoilt regions of the world , a dream for the individual traveller and a surfers paradise.
Boa Vista, the island hidden in everyone of us, a private and intimate place to discover and to tresure forever. Holidays on island of Boa Vista - Cape Verde or Cabo Verde will be unforgettable. Information about archipelago Cape Verde or Capo Verde, island Boa Vista, accommodations, kite, surf, diving, trekking ultra marathon... We offer low prices and great value
Dubbed 'the sand dune isle' for it's distinctly desert-like appearance, Boavista experiences the hot, dry winds blowing off the Sahara. An ideal location for sailing, diving, surfing, fishing, and kayaking, Boavista also boasts one of the best beaches to be found on Cape Verde, Curralinho, it is also the largest. The quaint port at Sal Rei is the Boavista's capital, and here you'll find the limited accommodation the island offers. Boavista is still very much developing, and you will need to book rooms in advance.
If you have your own transport, you can reach many of the island's incredible highlights, and some of the more remote beaches. There is a craft centre just inland from Chave beach, where you find sites of production of ceramics. Walking tours across the sand dunes are popular, as are the extensive selection of water sports.
