Take Your Next Scuba Diving Course In Zanzibar
If you are looking to get into scuba diving or you already are a scuba diver and looking to further your education, Zanzibar is a destination worth considering.
Zanzibar is an island situated off of the east coast of Africa and is a scuba diving paradise. With warm water, great visibility, and an amazing array of marine life, Zanzibar is an ideal location to take your Open Water Diving Certification.
If you are interested in taking any scuba diving courses while traveling in Zanzibar, please check out our PADI Zanzibar page. Below we will detail our most popular certification course, the PADI Open Water Certification.
The PADI Open Water Course in Zanzibar will consist of three separate components. Dive theory, dive skills, and 4 open water dives. The first component is the dive theory which can be done via ELearning prior to your vacation. You can expect this online course to take between 10 and 12 hours and can be done at your own pace and leisure.
The first day of your course while in Zanzibar will take between 5 and 7 hours. You will review what you learned in your ELearning course and then get outfitted with scuba diving equipment and practise different skills and techniques in very shallow water off of the beach. This is one difference between Zanzibar and many other locations around the world. In most locations, this session is done in a pool. In Zanzibar our conditions are nice enough that we can do this in the ocean! After you have learned the skills and techniques, you will go on your first open water dive. This dive will be completed under the close supervision of your PADI Instructor and will be completed at 12 meters or less of depth.
On your second day you will again enter the water with your scuba diving gear on and learn a few more skills and practise and review your skills from day one. After this skill session, you will get to do your second open water dive, which will also be to 12 meters. The full second day will last around 5 hours as well.
On the third day you will again meet with your instructor and go over any questions and prepare for 2 boat dives. These boat dives will take you to two of the best dive sites in Zanzibar where you will see a plethora of fish and marine life. On this day you will have to show your instructor that you have a good understanding of the skills and safety techniques which are required to be a safe diver, however, you will also have some time to explore the waters of Zanzibar and enjoy the experience.
After successfully completing these three segments you will now have done everything required for your Open Water Dive Certification. This certification is what you need to be able to enjoy exploring the underwater world at different locations with any PADI dive shop in the world.
